that help all of us thrive. Music on the Square is a roots music concert series produced by musician/producer/organizer/educator Alex Lacquement. More about Alex here.

Rooted in tradition but always reaching forward, Rakish is a contemporary folk duo that blurs the lines between Celtic, Americana, chamber music, and improvisation. Featuring award-winning fiddler Maura Shawn Scanlin (2-time U.S. National Scottish Fiddle Champion) and guitarist Conor Hearn (raised and steeped in the Irish music communities of Baltimore and D.C.), their music is equal parts soulful, playful, and deeply lyrical.
Praised by Strings Magazine as “explorative and versatile,” Rakish creates something wholly their own—born from Celtic and American traditions, but alive with poetry, new compositions, and fearless musical interplay. Their sophomore album, On Now, O Now, highlights their ability to carve out beauty in the spaces between genres.
Join us for a night of fiddle, guitar, banjo and songs that travel effortlessly from the Appalachian Mountains to the heart of Ireland.
